To become a Speech and language therapist, you need to complete a three or four year degree course. The entry requirements usually vary from place to place. Usually mature students with some form of relevant skills and experience are considered. Graduates holding a degree in some other subject may be able to complete a two year course as post graduate study.

In the majority of cases, newly qualified Speech and language therapists tend to work within the NHS initially. They are involved in providing treatment to both adults and children facing a variety of problems related to Speech and language. Over time however, there are plenty of opportunites for them to progress their career by specialising or moving into management. They could also move into research or teaching. The option of moving into private practice or becoming independent therapists is also an option.

people suffering from speech and language- related difficulties. The number is
expected to rise as illness, accidents and strokes become more common. Treating
such people is necessary not only for ensuring that they are able to lead a
healthy and productive life but also for ensuring the overall success of
society. Hence, Speech and language therapy jobs are extremely important not
only for the patents but also for the society as a whole. The demand for Speech
and language therapy jobs is high and graduates need not worry about finding a
job.
